I have Shields as my #2 starter (arguably 1b in a staff of similar pitchers). Someone in my league just put Brian Roberts on the block and expressed interest in Shields. I'm very undecided on how consistent my pitching staff can be, does this deal make my pitching staff to thin? Is it even worth it to take the hit on the power numbers for some speed and a marginal increase in AVG? Here's my roster:
10 team H2H, 6x6 stat categories with HLDs and OPS
C: Ryan Doumit
1B: Chris Davis
2B: Mark DeRosa
3B: Aramis Ramirez
SS: Jimmy Rollins
OF: Ryan Braun
OF: Carlos Lee
OF: Nick Markakis
UTIL: Matt Kemp
BN: Joey Votto
BN: Chris Iannetta
SP: Francisco Liriano
SP: James Shields
SP: Adam Wainwright
RP: Jonathan Broxton
RP: Francisco Cordero
P: Yovani Gallardo
P: Zack Greinke
BN: Rafael Perez
BN: Hong Chih Kuo

Your offense is good enough, you need Shields much more than you do Roberts

+1. You need Shields more then you need Roberts

I was leaning that way anyways...DeRosa will do for now until a better deal presents itself.

yes like that utility. i wouldn't keep 2 catchers. drop one for another (streaming line of SP).
