To keep or not to keep

Postby MassYankee » Tue Feb 24, 2009 10:01 pm

Trying to determine my last keeper - Jeter or Oswalt. 15 team, 7 keeper league, 6x6, and I'm already keeping Soto, Berkman, Aramis, Hamilton, Beltran and Halladay. (other borderline guys that probably wont make the cut are Huff, Cliff Lee and David Price). I pick 14th.

My guess as to the players that will be kept:

SS - Hanley, Reyes, Rollins, Drew, Tulo, Furcal.... maybe Peralta, Young - leaves the likes of Hardy, Tejada, Aviles, Escobar, Cabrera, Jeter (if I throw him back in)

SP - pretty much most of the top 20-25 guys....

So, who would you rather keep - Jeter or Oswalt?

Lee- after last years performance you got to give him a flier over oswalt. but between oswalt and jeter - Oswalt definitely.

Oswalt is pretty steady. I don't think you can expect quite domination from Cliff lee, but he's proven he can be a low end ace in the past, so I'd go with him.

Try to package one of your OF with one of those that are close to being kept for a SS upgrade and keeper. maybe rollins or drew (hanley you might not can get)

I would go with Oswalt over Jeter. But I would give some serious consideration to Price. Granted all 4 of those players will outperform Price this year, but I would feel confident that Price will outperform them next year and beyond. It might be a worthy price to pay for the future. This is assuming you get to keep these 7 indefinitely.

I like the idea of keeping Price. If you're not a fan of doing that, then I would probably go with Oswalt.

Oswalt between the 2 of them, but I would also look to make a deal so I could try and keep Price. But that is just me.
