Supposedly, Jones has lost weight and is in great physical shape.
The Rangers have a lot of question marks in the outfield. Murphy and Byrd are both recovering from injury/surgery. Cruz has never done it in the majors for an extended period of time. Hamilton is fragile.
Jones will get an entire spring of working with Rudy Jaramillo. Jaramillo has resurrected several dead careers in recent years.
I believe the chances of Jones making the Rangers roster to start the season are good.
I think that I'll take a late round flyer on him in a couple of leagues. Anybody with me?

While I do think he will win a roster spot and get significant playing time(at least to start... obviously less or more depending on performance), its probably not going to be every day with the crowded situation and coming off such a terrible year I still want to see it first regardless of improved health/conditioning.
I don't think its a particularly bad decision to take a flyer on him, it could obviously pay off.. but personally I'd pass and wait until he is doing well again, risking someone else getting him.
Im a ranger fan and rooting for him, but im not expecting much.

We're on the same page....
When you compare his upside to the 4th/5th outfielder types that will be available in the late rounds, I think that taking him is an easy decision to make....
And if he flops, then I can just dump him and grab one of those 4th/5th outfielder types from the waiver wire.

You know I have to admit a small part of wonders if just maybe we'll see something worth while out of Andruw. He's been working out, he's even been working with a tutor to learn how to spell his name properly I hear. I took him late... very late actually, in a couple of AL only leagues and he was drafted late by another team in a 20 team league. If he goes off I look like a genius, if not he hits the waiver wire and no harm done. In an average mixed league, I wouldn't invest more than a last round pick.
