Need a 3rd Baseman...WHIR

Postby spberg82 » Tue Feb 24, 2009 3:36 pm

So my draft consisted of pitchers, and 1B players. I haven't been able to give anyone away for trade bait (Texiera/Swisher/Votto/Blalock/Hafner). I'm very weak at the 3B position, currently I have DeRosa or Blalock to serve there. My options are either of those 2 or...

F. Lopez (ARI)
K. Kouzmanoff (SAN)
C. Blake (LAD)
J. Fields (CWS)
D. McPherson (FLA)

Mark Derosa tops the list for being the most consistent. But monitor Blalock's health and if Dallas McPherson earns the starting job in Florida as both would have bigger upsides IMO.

Id take DeRosa. He's somewhat more consistent as etraum said, than the others.

Help?

Like the other said stick with DeRosa.

Casey Blake and Kouzmanoff are similar players. They are pretty consistent but they wont do anything chart popping. Blake will also be batting low in the Dodgers order in front of the pitcher so that could hurt him.

I like Blalock but he needs to stay healthy, maybe this year he can.

Fields is young. He should add decent power if you went with him, but not much in the average department.

McPhearson is young, but I dont see him taking the job from Cantu unless Cantu gets off to a rough start with a ton of error's.

I think you have the two best options right now.

I agree with DeRosa nd Blalock, but keep a eye on Kouzmanoff this could be hit breakout year (usually the 3rd year)
