The Big 'C' (Catchers)

Postby hbomber » Tue Feb 24, 2009 12:53 pm

I have Navaro and am forced to keep him as owners are hoarding them. Seriously the best catcher that will be available in the draft is probably Suzuki-there is a small chance Posada will be dropped. The owner that has Shoppach is giving me a huge sell job that I should not keep Navarro and make a trade for Shoppach. He is asking to swap #2 picks which would move him down a couple of spots and switch our 4th and 5th picks. I will not do this as offered. BUT

I would swap seconds as moving 5 spots would not hurt me that bad. Does anyone predict Shoppach to have a great year. My feeling is that Navarro will have a better BA, will match him in Runs, and the OPS will be only slightly lower. As a matter of fact I think Navarro will get more AB's and is in a better hitting lineup. Am I off base here and should pick up Shopach?

Thanks

how many teams are in your league? how many keepers?

if you start one catcher per team i would just keep another positional player over navarro. i dont think the difference in production between navarro and kurt suzuki (for example), will be significant enough to justify keeping navarro. just b/c everyone is else is keeping catchers does not mean that you have to also.

How many teams are in the league and how many keepers does each team get? Does the league start 2 catchers?
I honestly can see keeping either of those catchers unless it is a very deep league.

I'd have to agree with Pogo here.

No way I keep Navarro. If someone wants to keep those guys and hurt themselves then let them. 10 teams x 2 C = plently of starting catchers available and most will be just as good as Pierz or better.
