Keepers Due Saturday - Which 3?

Postby pizzaboy76 » Tue Feb 24, 2009 9:03 am

I am in a 16 team, 5x5 roto keepers league. We keep 3 players and lose the draft pick from the round they were drafted in. If we keep them the next year, it's round drafted -3 (i.e. next year I could not keep Howard, and Dempster would cost a 14th round pick). Which 3 should I keep?

Howard - 1
Ibanez - 8
Atkins - 8
Holliday - 9
Dempster - 17
Fuentes - 20

Leave a link and WHIR.

You've got to take Holliday. He'll exceed his 9th round price tag.
I'd pass on Howard. Not only could you pickup another first round talent, I do not like Howard in roto leagues due to his low BA.

I'm going Holliday, Dempster, Fuentes. All will exceed their price tag...

I am pretty set on Holliday and Fuentes as they are both incredible values.

I'm looking at the other guys like this

Dempster - 17th - SP who had a career year, but was also a top20-25 pitcher and offers great value. Will he keep it up or regress? Also, SP's always seem to be easier to fine.

Atkins - 8th - I like the 1B/3B eligibility, but he has regressed the last 3 years and if he left coors it would really hurt. Moderate Value

Ibanez - 8th - Great numbers on a bad team and in a bad park, could improve in Philly. Concerns about age. Decent value and we start 4 OF in a 16 team league!!

Howard - Will probably lead the league in HR's and RBI's, but the avg is of concern as it has fallen the last couple years. What does one make of his hot Sept last year, a aberation or a sign of things to come. Would I be better off with Dempster, Atkins, or Ibanez + a 1st round pick, or with Howard plus a 8th or 17th round pick?

Any more thoughts appreciated and if you leave a link I will respond.

I think the question about Howard really depends on where you pick in that first round. If you pick first, then you can probably do better. If you pick last, then maybe not.

Help, please:

Holliday and Fuentes are easy picks. I don't like Howard as a first rounder but I don't see a more attractive option.

I will be picking in the 13th spot. I would say that 6-7 of the top 15 players are being kept and about 5 of those ahead of me will be keeping their 1st rounders, but it's all a guess at this point.
