12 team, H2H, 5X5 scoring

C-Mccann
1B-Konerko
2B-Polanco
SS-Tulowitzki
3B-Longoria
OF-Vlad
OF-Crawford
OF-Magglio
Util-D. Ortiz
BN-Eithier
BN-Lowell
BN-Drew
BN-C. Gomez

SP-Liriano
SP-Lester
RP-Wheeler
P-Cain
P-Nolasco
P-Kershaw
P-Buchholz
P-R. Johnson
P-Smoltz

I'm basically just going to work the wire throughout the year and try to pick up cheap saves. I figure I can do the same to a certain extent with my starters. Is the upgrade from Polanco to Pedroia worth Liriano?

Or is my team good enough to stand pat?

losing liriano hurts your team but pedroia is just a ton more valuable than liriano and polanco. i think you have to make this trade if you can.

Liriano = Mark Prior. I'm not about to keep drafting him while attempting to fool myself into thinking this is the year he stays healthy. He couldn't do it in the minors either. I'll take Pedrioa.

I mean he threw 200ip between the minors and majors last year so I don't think health is a huge concern.

What about including Ethier if I need to (he doesn't have a role on my team with Ortiz only being util eligible)

I don't quite believe Liriano is the next Mark Prior, but he'll never be as effective as 2006 if he can't throw that slider as often.

That said, Pedroia is much too valuable to pass up here.

The other owner proposed

Liriano, Ethier, Polanco

for

Pedroia, Nelson Cruz

Ethier is valuable but would have no place on my team with an outfield of (Vlad, Crawford and Magglio) and a utility spot filled by David Ortiz.

What do people think here? Am I neglecting pitching too much or is the upgrade from Polanco to Pedroia substantial enough to warrant this?

I would still do the trade even with the outfielders involved.
