Who to keep and draft strategy.. WHIR

Postby tuckerman85 » Sun Feb 22, 2009 1:14 pm

Standard 5x5 Keeper, H2H, 12 Teams...

I need to pick 8 or 9 (sacrifice first round draft pick) from the following players. Who should I keep and then what should my draft strategy be from there? I traded for some early picks last year, so I have an extra 2nd and 4th round pick. I had to narrow my selections down to 12 at the end of the season, and have to chose from the following:

C-
1B- Derek Lee
2B-
SS- Stephen Drew
3B- David Wright
MI- Rafael Furcal
CI-
LF- Ryan Braun
CF- Alex Rios
RF- Matt Kemp
OF- Nick Markakis
UTIL- Chris Young

BN- Corey Hart

SP- Scott Kazmir
SP-Adam Wainwright
SP-
SP-
SP-
RP-

RP-

So, who do I pick and then what draft strategy do I employ from there? WHIR, leave a link.

I would start the draft with a CI and a 2nd base (if you can get a cano, uggla)

After that I would go with 4 straight sp

Drop

Lee
Furcal
Young
Wainwright

I would look to move a OF for a good SP.

Drew
Wright
Furcal
Braun
Kemp
Markakis
Hart
Kazmir

I would target a Uggla or Cano first as well. But PLEASE for the love of god don't draft 4 straight SP after that. I'd grab a SP with my next pick after 2b pick but then I'd find a 1b Pena/Votto would be great.

i'd only keep 8 and hope to get a better player with your first round pick than what you'd keep. the last keeper was between drew and furcal for me, but i personally am not as high on drew as many others seem to be. i don't think he's a much different player than hardy or peralta, yet hes being drafted 3-4 hours earlier. furcal has quite a bit more upside if he can just stay healthy (which is a big if). i wouldn't fault you for going either way, but my preference would be furcal.
