This is the proper analysis. What type of players will be available with your next pick if you make this trade? I think thats how you have to look at. It's Fielder and Peavy for Braun and (insert your next pick here). Look at the trade that way and then make the move.

players available now would be:

Fielder
Carlos lee
Peavy
Haren
ichiro
markakis
mc louth
rios
dunn
granderson
burnett
so i get with 10th pick one of these guys. maybe dunn or markakis fall to me

This is a doable trade, but it makes a second trade necessary.

i would have to drop peavy so he wouldnt be mine to trade

I am under the impression that you are still before your keeper deadline, right?

Or would you have to cut Peavy immediately, and if so, how is your potential trading partner still able to choose between Braun and Soto as a keeper?

we put our keepers in, but if we trade a keeper, we can go back to our team and grab our next best guy so that we all go in with 4 keepers

Then try to stall the Braun deal until you have sold Peavy off.

I like Braun but I think Peavy + Fielder > Braun.

If you don't do the trade your team will look like this after your #10 pick:
Santana-K
Longoria-K
Berkman-K
Peavy-K
Fielder-#1 pick
#10 pick

If you do the trade your team will look like this after your #10 pick
Santana-K
Longoria-K
Berkman-K
Braun-K
#10 pick

I just think having that one extra player is worth more than Braun.

;-D Absolutely. Braun is a beast but I'll take Fielder and Peavy over him in a keeper, easy.

don't do the deal... stall it, deal peavy for a first... maybe a 2nd. Then do the deal... that'd be the only way I'd do the deal.
