A guy in my keeper league has him, and I was wondering if he is worth pursuing now. Is it possible he can be a high end fantasy starter next year? If anyone has previous examples of immediate success, I'd like to see what can be done.
Everyone says he is better than Prior, but I guess you could hope for a Prior-like fantasy impact. His numbers the first year and a half were out standing:
2002 - 19 GS, 6-6, 3.32 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, 147 K in 116.2 IP (11.3 K/9, 2.9 BB/9)
2003 - 30 GS, 18-6, 2.43 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 245 K in 211.1 IP (10.4 K/9, 2.1 BB/9)
Still, pursuing him now might be difficult. I can't imagine that any half way intelligent manager would be willing to part with him.
