THE STRASBURG WATCH
Keeping track of SDSU All-America pitcher Stephen Strasburg this season:

Yesterday: vs. Bethune Cookman at Compton
His line: 5 2/3 innings, 3 hits, 1 run, 0 earned runs, 2 walks, 11 strikeouts.
Result: Win, 6-3
Next start: Thursday vs. Nevada, 6 p.m.

COMPTON — – San Diego State right-hander Stephen Strasburg set the bar so high for himself last season that outstanding has been reduced to routine.

Strasburg clocked 98 mph with his first pitch in yesterday's season opener against Bethune Cookman. No big deal. He routinely registers triple digits on the radar gun. FULL STORY

Finishing dead last in a keeper to get a chance to draft this guy in a rookies draft sounds very enticing. ;-D

This kid is going to be ridiculous. The hype is already insane, so just imagine what it will be like 12 months from now...

Yeah but he is ridiculously good or something. Hype will be completely justified.

Saying that I am glad I traded for 1st overall pick in my dynasty league would be a massive understatement...... Some scouts are saying possibly best pitching prospect in the last 10-15 years...

I'm going to be able to draft him this summer first overall thanks to riding Mookie's decrepit squad into the fire. :-D :-b

He's obviously amazing, although I do worry about the striking similarity between his mechanics and that of Mark Prior. He's different than Mark Prior of course, but it still worries me.

Yes i've read that his mechanics scream injury, but I think if he gets through this year unscathed that it might not be true.

So what's a good nickname for him? Strazzy? Strasburger? The Stras?

Wow...

Strasburg has 16 K's, reaches 102 mph in win

THE STRASBURG WATCH

For the season: 2-0 record, 1.46 ERA, 12 1/3 innings, 8 hits, 3 runs, 2 earned runs, 3 walks, 27 strikeouts.

Stephen Strasburg once was asked if he has thrown faster than he's driven or driven faster than he's thrown.

“Thrown faster than I've driven,” he said.

That's prudent, especially when you have a fastball that touches triple digits. Besides, no good can come of it when you're spotted on the road by someone holding a radar gun. It's a different story when they're sitting in the stands. Strasburg can light up the gun with regularity and without repercussion. Only exclamation.

Strasburg was clocked at a new high last night against Nevada – 102 mph. Seven times!

His velocity, coupled with the location of his pitches, helped Strasburg to 16 strikeouts in the Aztecs' 5-2 victory at Tony Gwynn Stadium.FULL STORY
