So I joined a keeper league in it's second year. It's a 12 team rotisserie league. Usual stats, only major difference is we start LF, RF, CF instead of 3 OF...
I'm taking over for one of the managers who left... and have the choice between the following 2 teams:
.......Josh Banks .......Juan Cruz .......Alex Hinshaw .......John Maine .......Carlos Marmol .......Ricky Nalasco .......Joakim Soria .......Kerry Wood .......Carlos Zambrano
We have to keep 5 and at least one pitcher. Right now I'm torn because after our 5 keepers it's re-draft for the rest of the league. If I take team A then I pick FIRST in a NON-serpentine draft and if I take team B then I pick SEVENTH.
My 5 tentative keepers would be Team A: Youkilis A-Rod Ichiro Pence Peavy
or Team B: Pujols Atkins Kemp Holliday Nolasco
Which team would you take? Who would you keep? Why?
If it were me, I would go team A because I like the potential better. Although Im not a big fan of A-Rod, I like the mix of players you get with A better than the mix with B.
I would keep: A-Rod - Power/Steals and .300 BA Ichiro - High avg .320+ and tons of steals Youk - .300 avg, 25+HR, 110+RBI Peavy - great pitcher with tons of ks Beckett - 20 win potential, 200 k potential
I dont like Hunter Pence. But that is just me. He pisses me off. He is pretty good, but just take a look at his stance for Christ's sake...
I'll take this team, not in love with Nolasco - Peavy is a better choice for an arm, but the offensive players are head and shoulders above the other team.

because nolasco is better than zambrano
i'd take team A and keep: Alex Rodriguez Ichiro Suzuki Dan Uggla Hunter Pence
Jake Peavy
i give team A a nudge because with the first overall draft pick i feel theres a good chance that there will be at least 1 player who is significantly better than most of the draft pool available in the first round. i'm also not a fan of youk, though i would keep him over pence if a-rod wasn't already in your 3B slot and you didn't have to play youk at 1B where i think is value is much lower.

Is that a serious question. Zam is a freak show, and totally finished as an Ace with next to no strikeout ability anymore. Nolasco is a great strike out pitcher, young and far more valuable.

Nah, the 1st overall pick is like pick 61, the 7th is like, what #67, so what, you have to keep a declining Ichiro & a BA killer in Uggla, those two negate any difference in picks. With team B you cover CF with Kemp, Atkins at a weak 3rdbase position in addition to Albert and Holliday.

I agree
