Keeper League, Keep 17 players, 14 teams, 5x5 roto, Start LF/CF/RF instead of 3 OFs, Max innings: 1250.
My Keepers: C J.Mauer 1B A.Pujols 2B B.Roberts 3B M.Cabrera SS M.Young LF D.Young CF A.Rios RF J.Bruce UT P.Fielder BN C.Rasmus SP J.Peavy, R.Halladay, D.Haren, J.Beckett, M.Cain, E.Bedard, C.Buchholz Other Players: CF M.Bourn RP F.Francisco, M.Lindstrom, C.Qualls, T.Hoffman
So I have a deal in place, that's been accepted to trade Prince, Rasmus and Cain for David Wright. The main objective in this trade would be trading one of my 1B before Cabrera no longer has 3B eligibility next year and I'm stuck with 3 1B and having to sit Prince on my bench. I also wanted to try and target a top player as I never have issues finding 17 good keepers each year. I can afford to pay this price because Cain is my #5 starter, Prince will be my #3 1B and Rasmus isn't contributing anything at the moment.
Now my other issue is that the owner of Hanley heard what I was offering for Wright and said he would give up Hanley for a similar price. Now I haven't gotten any specifics from him, but he has no good options at SS after Hanley and no great options at 3B, so he would be interested in Michael Young, who would take the place of Cain or Rasmus. We could change the deal around more than that.
The questions I'm looking to have answered are: Would you prefer Hanley or Wright in a keeper league? Do you think I'm giving up too much in the Wright deal (I'm confident that the trade is good for me, but I'd still welcome support or strong arguments against my thinking)? Would it make a big difference to you whether you had to fill a hole at SS or 3B next year? And any other thoughts you have while reading about my situation. Sorry for the long post, thanks guys!

Would that we all these kinds of problems . I see both Hanley and Wright being very similar players in future seasons, especially if Hanley produces in the 3 hole and his SBs tail off. That being said, the RBI's would even up .
I'd say Hanley, but for no good reason. Just a gut call. You could honestly flip a coin and be happy with the results

Nope, great offering and you make out like a bandit.

This concern would be ancillary to me -- SS is a narrow position, but there are some young players who could make a decent impact, like peralta, escobar, hardy, drew, andrus, etc. no replacement for hanley, but ...
I say go for Hanley, altho its not by much...just think its very, very hard to find a young player at SS with his speed and power. Pretty much NO ONE besides him with that combo! While Wright is awesome, there usually is more suitable 3B to fill out that spot...not so much this year but usually is the way it goes. As far as being good for you, hell yeah. I would give Fielder, Young, and Rasmus for him and see if that works.
Looking at your team I think I'd prefer Wright. It is close in my opinion anyways, and since it is so close, I'd prefer keep Wright to play 3B sine you already have a serviceable SS in Michael Young and Cabrera loses 3B eligibility at seasons end. I'd also try to flip Young and perhaps another player for a up and comer type at SS like Stephen Drew, Hardy or Tulowitzki. Good luck. If you have a second, I'd greatly appreciate some help with mine.

Haha, yeah, pretty much enjoying the situation I'm in.
Thanks for the responses guys. I told the Hanley owner that he needs to look at a possible deal and email me some specifics during the day tomorrow. After I get that email, I figure I'll either have a good or bad feeling about a possible trade, bad feeling, I turn around and accept the Wright deal before he changes his mind, good feeling I try to hurry along negotiations and decide between the two deals.

Yeah, my current target is Alexei Ramirez (as he has Tulo also, and loooves Tulo). I emailed him already and he's not looking to make any deals, and likes Alexei's position flexibility. So I might have to wait until the off-season to make a run at him. Drew might be tough to get. I worry about Hardy's upside some, but mostly I worry about a potential move to 3B if Gamel can't make it there and Alcides Escobar pushes for the starting SS job, moving Hardy to 3B.
Speaking of moves to 3rd, I saw earlier tonight on Texas' depth chart that they had Michael Young as the starting 3rd baseman. I don't know if this is just a screw up or what is going on maybe something to look into. As for the deal either way you go you make out, so good luck deciding lol
Thanks for the input on my Longoria/AROD qyandry, still trying to see what poosible are out there as the teams weaker at 3rd don't seem to want to bite. Anyways maybe I'll just sit on both and have the two of the best 3rd baseman. Have a good day

Young is the starting 3rd baseman for the rangers now. The whole thing happened in December. This is a key point that everyone seems to have missed, because after this season he wont have SS eligibility but will gain 3B. So trading for Hanley helps you more here, you place in at SS and Young at 3rd.
