Castillo Leadoff?

It's pretty bizarre that the Mets would mess with a superstar in an effort to help out a weak link, but Manual thinks Castillo might fare better as a leadoff man after struggling in the No. 2 spot last year. That's the case even though Castillo has actually been more productive in 501 career games as a No. 2 hitter (747 OPS) than in 870 games out of the leadoff spot (721 OPS). If Castillo does lead off, then Reyes could be dropped to third, with Carlos Beltran hitting second. ... LB&id=3605

Horrible move IMO if we do this can some of you explain to me why we should accomodate our worst starter while risking throwing off one of our franchise players?

Crazy, I know. There is a thread about it in leftovers too. Hopefully just Jerry Manuel crazy talk.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
