6 Keepers are set who do I target?

Postby CadensDad » Thu Feb 19, 2009 2:12 am

Ok I’m in a keeper league (It’s like 6 years old it’s my 4th year I think, I have not done to well the last two years. I want to move up from the bottom 3 spots to the top 5 this year but will need some help

12 Teams
Roto
C-1B-2B-SS-3B-OF-OF-OF-UTIL-UTIL-UTIL
SP-SP-SP-RP-RP-RP-P-P-P
BN-BN-BN-BN-DL-DL

Basic 5 X5 stats

My Keepers

Corey Hart-OF
Chase Utley 2B
Derek Lee-1B
Garret Atkins-3B

Cole Hamels-SP
K-Rod-RP

Not too good I know, I have the 2nd pick coming up in the draft, Who should I target first

Hitters
Brandon Phillips-2B
Ichiro-OF
Matt Kemp-OF
Brian Roberts-2B
Aramis Ramirez-3B
Russell Martin-C
Curtis Granderson-OF
Alex Rios-OF
Adrian Gonzalez-1B
Joe Mauer-C
Geovany Soto-C
Hunter Pence-OF
Victor Martinez-1B/C
Chipper Jones-3B
Adam Dunn-1B/OF
Stephen Drew-SS
Ryan Ludwick-OF
Aubry Huff-1B/3B
Carlos Delgado-1B
Jermaine Dye-OF

(Ask if your wondering about someone who may not be on this list.)

Pitchers
Dan Haren
John Lackey
Felix Hernandex
Ervin Santana
James Sheilds
Roy Oswalt
Joba chamberlin
AJ Burnett
Matt Cain

Brad Lidge
Bobby Jenks
Johnathan Broxton

Ask if your wondering about someone not on this list

So which way should I go? I am at a big loss here, I’m thinking Granderson or Kemp but might need the power more. So any advice will be great.

Derek Lee was a horrible keeper option, I'm think Phillips for a little speed and pop at a shallow position. Dunn also gets my attention as I feel your team will be lacking power.

EDIT: Adrian Gonzalez before Dunn, I didn't see him.

Definitely Phillips and AGon. Then look Ichiro and Kemp if they make it back your way.

You should be in the 'take the best players 1st mode', unless you want to finish at the bottom again:

Granderson
Phillips

Honestly I would look at Matt Kemp first just b/c you already have solid options at the corner infield. Another possibility in my mind is Dan Haren, gives you two top SP's. Good luck, keep Travis Snider mind a little later in the draft.

I kinda thought Haren would get more love than this. But now I'm leaning towards Phillips,

You already have Utley no point in getting Phillips right now when you have needs elsewhere. Go with either Matt Kemp or Dan Haren.
