What Rays Pitcher in 2009?

I want Shields for 09. Price definitely needs some seasoning and will probably have some up and downs. Garza still needs to refine his 3rd pitch. Kazmir has too many question marks with the slider for me to put him in Shields territory, but if Kazmir is throwing the slider with some regularity this year, watch out.

I think Garza is going so late in drafts it's ridiculous. He is easily the best bargain out of those and the only one I expect to have on any teams this year.

RUMP -- From what I hear Kaz's elbow feels a lot better and he is starting to feel comfortable throwing his slider again. Anyone that watched him last season knows he was either not throwing it, or had 0 effectiveness when he threw it. Garza is working on his 3rd pitch this ST. He definitely needs it because people will sit on the 2 seamer and wait. Shields has been working with Kaz and Garza on how he throws his change. If there change could be anything like Shields that would be nice.

Be aware that this might be the time where someone like Neimann, Davis, Moore, or Hellickson breakout. I think Niemann might be the best option at closer by season's end.

Hell boy won't be up this season IMO unless it is a September Call up. He only threw 75 innings in AA and the Rays like to see their pitchers throw around 200 between AA and AAA before coming up. Price has been the only exception to that they have spoken of. Davis has a shot and they told him last year he would have a shot in ST this season, but if no one on the Rays current staff gets injured I just can't see him starting over them this year. I agree on Niemann. I think they may have him in the bullpen closing sometime in the near future. Percy will not make it, Wheeler doesn't seem to have the mental make up, and Balfour only has one pitch right now. Niemann is big, strong arm, and has more than one good pitch.

I think Kazmir is going to have a better season numbers wise out of everyone, Wins/Strikeouts/ERA... Im excited to see what Price does over a full season
