AGON value

Postby emorel1975 » Wed Feb 18, 2009 12:46 am

Hi,

I want to dump AGON. He helped me last year, but I am worried about this year. I have Morneau, so I can do without him. Would someone like Corey Hart be equal to him???

My keepers are

AGON
Crawford
Phillips (2B)
Kinsler (we start 2 2B)
Morneau
Soto
Webb

Are there other players that you would value as equal to him. This is a 5X5 H2H keeper league and we start 5 OF, 1 Util, 1 1B, 1 1B/3B, 1 2B, 1 SS, 1 3B, 5 SP ad 3 RP.

Please advise....

Why would you be worried about him? He performed well last season, and is a top 5 (or at least #6) ranked first baseman. With unconfirmed rumors that the fences at Petco are being moved in about 10 feet for the 2009 season, I think he because a great player to own in fantasy. I see you have Morneau, but A-Gon would look sexy in the utility spot. Even if the Petco rumors aren't true, I'd keep him over Soto, catchers are of little interest to me.

I can keep 7 and these are the 7 that were best on my team. AGON is predicted to decline this year. That, and 1B is a very deep poisiton. I was thinking of trading him for a 3B or SS. Maybe an OF if I get good value....

You'll need to explain why you are so sure A-Gon is going to decline. He's in his prime. The 7 best last season doesn't mean a whole lot this season. Dontrelle Willis was the best in 2005, a lot of good that did people in 2006 and beyond. I agree 1st is deep but you have the #5 or 6 guy. What more do you want?

My league puts a value on SS, and 3B due to the perceived scarcity at that position, so the other teams keep the top SS and 3B. Since there are usually tons of 1B talant, I as going to trade him for a good SS or 3B. I am unsure how to rate him. He plays in a pitchers park and I would raher trade him them any other on my roster for help at 3B or SS.

Just curious on what 3B, SS or OF would be equal or greater than AGON.

Predicted to decline? Where? and I dont know about these rumors Tenacious is talking about, but i'd think if that was really happening it would be known to all, they aren't just going to move the fences in from say 425 to 400 and leave up the 425 sign? I mean come on.....

I actually agree and probably shouldn't have mentioned it. I read it in some Padres blog a couple of months ago and then read it in a post on another forum. I googled the Internet for anything to confirm it but found nothing. Which is why I was sure to say that they were unconfirmed rumors. I'm sure the signs could be easily changed however.
