i am in a head to head keeper league and need help deciding on my 10 keepers! here is the list. dont base it on position. who should i keep? thanking you in advance...
i am going to keep: C-R.Martin, 1B-L.Berkman, 1B-P.Fielder, 2B-I.Kinsler, SS-H.Ramirez, OF-G.Sizemore, SP-C.Hamels
i have 3 slots open and its between these players: 1B/3B-C.Davis, OF-R.Ludwick, SP-C.Lee, SP-R.Nolasco, SP-J.Shields, SP-J.Beckett, SP-D.Price, SP-J.Verlander
Price won't make an immediate impact in 2009 (sounds like the Rays have suddenly decided to give him more time in AAA), but in a keeper league he is still an attractive commodity. Cliff Lee does nothing for me, after being waiver trash for practically his whole career, I'm not convinced he is an overnight stud. I'm willing to chalk it up to a second fluke season in his career (let's not forget he was so bad in 2007 that demoted him to AAA). I do like Nolasco, however.
If you are playing to win this season, go with Davis, Beckett and Shields. If you are looking to build towards greatness (and by the looks of your keepers you are well on your way), then maybe Davis, Price and your choice of Shields or Nolasco.

Without thinking about position, I like Davis, Beckett, Shields -- I'm not a believer in Cliff Lee. David Price would be an outstanding long term solution, but it depends what your goals are for this season. You might be able to redraft Price anyway.

Thanks for your help with mine.
Of that list, I'd certainly rule out Verlander to start with. I think that you need to look at all of the pitchers and think it over. Personally, I'd take Price and Lee, with Nolasco a close third. I'd also consider Davis if you weren't basing things on position.

those would be my 3 too add. however look and see what 3rd baseman are going to be available in the draft. If it looks slim then go with Davis over Price, as not sure if he will be in starting 5 and he isn't going to come out of the pen to start the year. Also, depending on when your draft is maybe wait a little while to see how Spring Training shakes out for Tampa

I'd eliminate Verlander right away. For me, it's a tough call between Beckett and Nolasco but I'd lean towards Beckett simply because of his proven abilities.
