who would you trade (WHIR)

Postby Fred_merritt » Tue Feb 17, 2009 7:13 pm

10 team h2h points

I desperately need a 2nd basemen and another guy has ian kinsler, brandon phillips, and kelly johnson, but he has no closer. I, on the other hand, have 3 legit closers in Jokiam Soria, Bobby Jenks, and kerry wood. Which one of these 3 closers should i offer for phillips ( i doubt he'd trade kinsler)? Do you think that a straight 1 for 1 trade would get it done or should i try and throw in another lower level guy for phillips?

phillips is quite a bit more valuable than any of those closers and there's pretty much no way you'd get him in a 1 for 1. you'll probably have to package soria (your best closer) with another solid guy to pull that off.

I'd shop Wood first and see what he is willing to offer in exchange. Feel free to shop him around to other owners to, you have lots of time before the season starts. Wood is your highest risk closer, but many people over-value him.

well I just looked at his team again and realized he is also lacking in catchers. I have Navarro and Martin, so I decided to make an initial offer of Kerry Wood and Navarro for Phillips.....thoughts?

Personally I take catchers with my last pick in nearly every draft. Laird, Hundley, AJP, I really don't care who I get. So for me, it wouldn't work. But everyone has different values, the best thing to do is simply put Wood on the trade block and see what comes in. Sometimes you get something better than you would have imagined. As I said, some people are really gung ho about Wood for some reason.
