Clay Bucholtz & Johnny Cueto for Ervin Santana....Who Wins??

Postby ion293 » Tue Feb 17, 2009 3:34 pm

I am in a salary dynasty keeper league. I have Cueto and Bucholtz and have been offered E. Santana.

Santana is under contract for the next 2 years for cheap while Cueto and Bucholtz are under contract for 4 more years for cheap. Is it worth is to trade 2 potential front line SP for Ervin Santana who had a top 15 season last year? Thanks!

No league info, but I'm not sure it's all that vital here. I don't see stud potential in Cueto. I think he'll be an inconsistent, roller-coaster Oli Perez type pitcher. I would take Ervin in exchange for that duo without hesitation.

I'd probably take the deal.

I'm a huge fan of Cueto, and he will probably be a very good pitcher within the next 4 years, but Ervin is already one of the best pitchers in baseball and you get that for 2 years.

Buchholtz is just a throw in imo.

This is an easy choice you take Ervin. He's one of the top pitchers in the game and the other 2 have potential but that's it.

I could actually include Lars Anderson instead of Cueto. Would that be even better?

Yeah. Cueto is the guy I was a little worried about giving up. Anderson has a good bat, but he's in the minors right now. Huge Cueto fan. Swap Cueto for Lars and you have a steal.
