It is tough to determine on how long you should wait it all depends on how the draft shakes out. We all have our favorites and may overdraft players in others eyes. For example I personally would never select a pitcher in the 1st round. It would take Santana to drop to 18-24 before I would even consider drafting him and even than would have a hard time selecting him but ultimately the value of Santana at 20 may be to hard to pass up. IMO the perfect draft would be waiting until the seventh round before I select a SP where I have my favorites, but more often than not this is not how my draft goes. The savvy owners are those who can draft on the fly and not get nervous when runs on certain positions start thus overdrafting players.

Since this is a dynasty league and pretty deep, I've actually gone by that philosophy...I've watched as SP's and RP's have been taken in mini-runs, and while those guys were being taken, I filled out most of my offense. Obviously I had to nab a couple of pitchers, and my roster below shows where I'm at. My 10th pick is coming up in 6 picks, and I'm fighting the urge to draft a C or CF because I "need" them. There's not much available, and who is available, well...they're all the same players. CF's with Mediocre AVG, relatively high SB and R's, no power. C's with little upside. I'm thinking that while everyone "drafts young" I'm going to make a push for this year and hope to get lucky in the prospect draft.

There have been 14 RP's taken and 50 SP's taken so far. I'm thinking my turn picks are going to be a C / SP ... some combo of Flores or Snyder and Floyd or Weaver.

Update. I took a chance and passed on CF's - watched as the two guys I was targeting (Gomez and Fowler) went right after I passed on them. Took Guillen and his 20/90 and Meche's consistency --- next round(s) will be C/CF if it's worth it. Then I'll fit out my staff and bench
