What would be the best storylines for 2009 baseball

Postby CadensDad » Tue Feb 17, 2009 12:29 am

Just had a few thoughts on what GOOD things could come from this season. Things that make baseball,teams,players look good. Not wanting to trash any teams or players just make others look good get baseball in the news in the right way.

I might be a big homer here but IMO.

Red Sox -vs- Braves in the World Series
Smoltz pitching game 7 versus his old team. It'd be pretty cool I think (Not very likely but a small possibility)

Royals win the A.L. Central
Puts pressure on the Pirates to turn it around, (Rays do it one year, Royals the next would be cool) {Just not gonna happen}

Andruw Jones wins comeback player of the year award
Kinda makes the Dodgers look dumb and makes Rangers look good {possibly but wouldnt hold my breathe}

Padres/Peavy beat Cubs in playoffs
Kinda makes Cubs look bad for not getting Peavy {Just ain't gonna happen}

Edgar Rentiera is a top 10 SS
Makes it clear he plays better in the N.L. (Maybe)

Abreu puts up better numbers than Tex and leads the Angels to the playoffs
Since the Yankees let Abreu go and signed Tex to big money. and the Angels kina settled for bobby

Anyone else got any cool storylines?

The Mets lose out on a playoff spot on the last day of the season.

Big Albert hits .400 while passing every drug test known to man.

Hamilton doubles his first half numbers from 2008 and wins AL MVP.

Grineke wins the AL CY for a last place Royals team.

The Yankees implode and only win 85 games, good for 4th place in the AL east.
Here's the pitch on the way, a swing and a belt! Left field! Way back! BLUE JAYS WIN!

by Putz and K-Rod blowing a late lead. :-D

Brad Lidge chasing Gagne's consecutive save streak of 84.

Rocco Baldelli hitting a walkoff to beat the Rays in a crucial game.

Rich Hill wins the AL Comeback Player of the Year, Matt Wieters gets called up early-May and wins the AL ROY as the Orioles make the playoffs as a wild card.

I like that one... :-b

I'd like to see Giambi pull a Samson in Oakland: grows out his hair (and his moustache, of course) and wins another MVP. And you guys all thought it was the steroids...psh!

Yeah, no joke if the Mets blow a lead on the last day of the season again, there will be mass suicide in NY(me included)
As for storylines, not really a huge fan, would just rather watch baseball then care about everything around it.

Using a combination of DNA from an old cigar stub and a bottle of gin, it has been determined that Babe Ruth used steroids. Everything's okay!
