Morning - I am currently in a slow auction and have never done an auction for anything other than the standard 12 team, 5x5, 23 player rosters. This is for a 12 team yahoo 5x5 H2H league, but the most important difference in my opinion is the 21 player roster and only 16 starters in a given week starting. So the auction starts off and based on the values I'm using as a guideline it looks crazy to me. Hanley for $50+, Reyes too, Utley at about $40, Cano (yes Cano) at about $18! Then I thought about it, and I think my guidelines are too low, because I was basing them off of 12 team league with same categories knowing I only had 2 less roster spots. But my starting roster is totally disparate. In a traditional league, all 23 players are accumulating pts at all times, but in my league only 16 are. So to adjust for the second round of nominations today, I decided to take the "traditional" auction values, and add 30% to them. 23 roster spots in roto leagues is almost exactly 33% higher than the 16 that will be scoring points in this league. Maybe I was the crazy one, and not some of my opponents. This would bring values more in line with what was going on in the first round of players. Thoughts? Do you agree that basing the values on a "roster" size of 16 is more appropriate than a size of 21, due to bench players not scoring in any given week?
