Where will Matt Wieters start the season?

I think it's best to remember that Matt has had only one full professional year of playing experience. He has only 200 or something at-bats in Double-A. In all likelihood, he will start the year at [Triple-A] Norfolk. That's a pretty good jump for him. Then I think how he does, and how our catching is doing here, would be a determination when and if he comes up over the course of the 2009 season. Based on his past performance, I would suspect that he would get here sometime [in 2009], but the exact date, I don't know.

He could use a month in AAA, but I don't he will be down too much after that. Because I doubt he will need to be there longer to show he's ready.

There's no point in losing a year of production by having him starts in the majors for a team that shouldn't have a chance against 3 World Series contenders in their same division. They have to let him start in AAA.

Stolen from Baseball Think Factory

Going by how much his .BA has increased with each level of Pro Ball, Matt Wieters will hit .405 in his rookie season

When Matt Wieters was being recruited by Georgia Tech, they told him Jason Varitek used to play there. When Jason Varitek showed up during the winter to give money to the school, they told him Matt Wieters used to play there.

Matt Wieters learned to switch hit by lifting a pickup truck with one hand, then repeating the feat with his other hand. As a Baby.

Matt Wieters was sent from the Planet Krypton to save all of Orioledom.

Scott Boras' greatest challenge ever will be to make a notebook full of hyperbole for Matt Wieters, because it is all true.

After failing his drug test in 2003, A-Rod began injecting himself with bits of Matt Wieters. He won 3 of the next 5 MVP awards.

Matt Wieters' sweat possesses healing properties.

Matt Wieters once caught an entire game unconscious.

not that it means anything or that Yahoo knows anything but I find it interesting that when Yahoo opened he was like 770 something and now he is ranked in the low 100's ( I don't recall the exact rankings ). I know Yahoo tweaks their rankings from time to time but that is a large move in a couple of days from the opening of Yahoo until now.
