Based on replies on the subject, it is the opinion that Phillips is more desirable than Uggla. Using that assumption, let me know which of the trades you would/would not do, and if you have a preference. This trade may not happen, as I am still awaiting a reply, but I want to be ready when he comes a calling! All of the trades involve swapping draft postitions, 2nd to 6th in each round. My current pre-draft payroll is $124 out of $200 final payroll. The first 3 are my offers, he may have a completely different trade in mind
1) Cueto for Phillips - takes my payroll down to $115
2) Lee for Phillips and Votto - does not change my payroll, but gives me 11 keepers
3) Shields for Phillips and Votto - takes payroll to $122 and gives me 11 keepers.
4) McClouth for Phillips -takes my payroll down to $102, but only 9 keepers. This might be his offer btw

Sorry, I forgot to add my roster!! So you don't think that getting Votto makes the other trades better??
Thanks!
C: McCann $17, Towles $10 1B: Pena $14, Butler $8 2B:Uggla $17, Theriot $13 3B: Gordon $12, Lowell $9 SS: Escobar $10, Drew $10 OF: McClouth $13, Fukodome $6, Markakis $13, Hamilton $13, Bruce $9 P : Danks $13, Lyon $13, J Shields $15, Duchsherer $13, Cueto $8, Sonnanstine $6, C Lee $13, Scherzer $9, Maddux $4
Personally I rank Uggla ahead of Phillips. Unless you are dealing Uggla for a SP then I would say don't do anything. Uggla has averaged 30+HR, 90RBI and a .280 or so BA his first 3 years, which I would say is pretty damn good. Now I don't see locking up roughly $35 in 2 second baseman too smart. Unless as I said above you are dealing Uggla for top end SP. This is just my opinion however and most other people value Phillips higher. Another cheaper option however maybe to target Mike Aviles, as I think he will put up similar numbers to both Phillips/Uggla eventually, this year I see around 24HR, 80 RBI and .275 to .290 BA and is probably about $10 cheaper so that would allow you to improve in other areas.

Uggla is $17, Phillips is $8, so I would be saving $9 by making the trade. I am not keeping any other 2B. My roster does not show my 10 keepers, as I have not made a final decision yet. I think I will keep Lee, Shields and Scherzer for my pitchers, all OF excluding Fukudome, McCann, Uggla (unless I get Phillips) and Drew.
Aviles is on my radar, but do not want to count on getting him in the $10 round. We have 25 rounds, decreasing $ values for each round starting at $25 and ending at $2.
Remember that Cliff Lee was so bad in 2007 that he was demoted to AAA. People who see him as a top 10 SP are going to be sadly disappointed. He had a fluke season, he has never been anything other than a number 5 or bench replacement starter in fantasy leagues until last year. He's simply not consistent enough to be valued as much as he suddenly is. I would jump at any opportunity to sell high on him. So I favor the 2nd deal even though I'm not real big on Votto. I would be shopping Lee around more to see what other offers come your way.
My main reason for trade is to get rid of either Uggla or McCann and replace them with their cheaper counterpart, strictly payroll reduction. True, last year could have been a fluke, but remember Sandy Koufax. He started his carreer 36-40, then went 18-13, and then ...!! I am not comparing the two directly, but there is no reason Lee could not be a consistent .600 pitcher the rest of his years.
I like # 2 . Lee for Votto and Phillips. I think Lee's going to have a good year , but I trust Shields more. Getting Votto and Phillips is a good deal. Both contribute in 5 categories.

Thanks for the reply. I may have trouble with this one, as he IS a big Reds fan! We are a total points league, and based on projections, they both are a downgrade from Uggla and Pena, but if I can use the extra monies to spice up 3B and pitching, I should be able to offeset most of it.

PS Another offer has come to fruition.... Lee for Soto and Greinke. This would only be if the pre-mentioned owner and I do not make a trade, and getting Soto from the other guy is like taking money from Scrooge, but we'll see.
