Strange League Rules

Postby howie789 » Sat Feb 14, 2009 12:13 am

I love the makings of our league- 16 team H2H points. But we don't penalize for BBI and HA for pitchers. That bothers me a little bit. Pitchers should be held accountable. Do you think this is for the better? We also have .333 for Groundouts and Flyouts. A strange point system.

So you're essentially rewarding a point every inning pitched. Seems you would want to take away for negative performance like hits and walks as well. First thing I always do when encountering a new scoring system is run some calculations on either last year's data or your current projections, whichever you're more familiar with. See if the ranking you get is more or less what you anticipated.

Not only is this good to do its essential to do....really should be the first and most important thing you do in points leagues!

That's what I'm asking the Commish- but he doesn't want to use BBI and HA for some reason. It's a good indicator for a pitcher. I really want it in there. Any other league I've seen, penalizes for both of them. Whether it be H2H or Roto. Do you think every league should use WHIP? To me, absolutely.
