Obviously not a big fantasy loss, but what it does is open a big spring training opportunity for Mat Gamel. Seeing as how the other 3B options are Mike Lamb, Casey McGehee, and Craig Counsell, there's an opportunity here to earn the starting job with a big spring.
I think if he were to steal a starting gig during ST, he could post pretty respectable fantasy numbers. Solid batting average (.280ish?), decent power (15-20 HR?), a handful of SB (6-7?) and a solid mix of R/RBI.

Right, he will have to have a big spring, both offensively and defensively. He'll never be good at third, but he did show improvement last year. If he can even just be below average and not flat bad, he may be able to hit his way into the job.
I tore my left calf muscle my freshman year of high school. It is darn painfull, and can linger for some time. Of course, I tried to push it though, to play varsity football, which kinda messed up letting it heal correctly.

Probably not, but I don't think the Brew Crew wants to have a repeat of that at 3B. Wasn't Braun historically bad?
Could this bump Alcides Escobar up to the major league level? Slot Hardy over to 3B, Escobar to SS?
