New MCab deal...WHIR

Postby RowdyRed » Fri Feb 13, 2009 6:30 pm

I posted a deal yesterday involving, MCab, and the answer was a resounding no. Well, I hadn't responded yet, but the guy sent me another proposal. I was curious what everyone thought of this one.

I get: Cabrera

I give: Kazmir, Chris Davis, Crawford

That would leave my keepers as:

McCann
Morneau
Utley
Longoria
Tulowitzki
Sizemore
Kemp
Cabrera
Peavy
Gallardo
Josh Johnson
Marmol

H2H, 12 team, 5x5, 12 player keeper.

That leaves me with an OF spot to fill, while also needing to address SP and RP, but it gives me a young gun at Util, and keeps my pitching more in shape than yesterday (yesterday's included Peavy and did not include Crawford).

Thanks for your help!

I'm not usually big on a 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 deals, but I like this trade. Crawford will end up out of shape and injured, although he has been a favorite of mine for years, he is on the downslide. Still speculation though, but it's close.

Definitely giving up too much. I think Crawford and Davis are both in for big years.

NO. You are giving up too much. Counter with Kazmir and Davis for Cabrerra. A 2 for 1 sounds more reasonable.

I think you are giving up too much. You don't have really good replacement keepers. So you really are going to have a hard time making any 3 for 1 trade, if you are giving up 3 keepers and having to stick a couple scrubs on your keeper list.

I'll turn it down, but I just want to say that I think Josh Johnson is going to be one of the surprise pitchers of this year. I don't even really think of him as much of a surprise. He's going to be very good. I think he will be as good if not better than Kazmir by the end of the year...I just think I have a better shot of getting him back in the draft than I would Kazmir. I certainly think Johnson will be better long run than Kazmir. I think Kazmir is overrated.

As for Crawford, I think he could still breakout. He's only 27 now. I'm also not as high on Davis as most people are.

But all that is just my opinion.

I'll stay put...I already made a deal of Cain, Roberts, and Rivera for Utley to upgrade my offense some this offseason. I would go into such long dry spells offensively last year, but I generally did OK in pitching categories. It was painful to have weeks in a row where I would only hit .220 repeatedly. I'm mostly trying to up my average. Utley gave me all-around offensive skills, while I thought Cabrera would give me a big upgrade in average over Davis. Just trying to figure out something. This is Year Four of this keeper, and I've been in the playoffs every year, but have yet to win a title. And I'm sick of that....I'm one of four teams to have made the playoffs every year, and the only one of those four to not win it yet, even though I finished ahead of last year's champs during the regular season....
