This is a old thread I am going back to because I enjoyed reading what others thought should have happen to thier fav teams. Now let's not be too drmatic, we can't all trade for A-rod/Pujols/Utley and Han-Ram. but lets just see.
(I will post my thoughts on the Braves here shortly)
“Never argue with a idiot, because first they will bring you down to their level. Then beat you with experience.”
We still have 4Mil left to play with maybe sign a Glavine, or add another arm for the bullpen. But these moves would have made the Braves serious contenders. Also set us up for 2010 with a rotation of Jurrjens,Hanson,Hudson,Peavy, Kawakami. But oh well one can only dream?

How can you say sign Furcal to 3/30 mil deal? They clearly tried, and he decided he wanted to play in LA instead. That simply isn't a viable move, as we saw just a few weeks ago...
I am relatively pleased with what the Mets have done this year. They turned a weakness into a strength by addressing the bullpen woes of the past few years. I believe Perez/Pelfrey/Maine all take a moderate step forward this year with Pelfrey ending the season as a solid #2. I am frustrated by Abreu signing for 1/5. I think Abreu in left moves Murphy to 2B addresses 2 problems. You move or release Castillo knowing you're better without him than with him.

dont get me wrong, I'd STILL do backflips if he ended up a Met!! I just think that there was EXTREME value with Abreu at $5M and as a "GM" I'm looking for value!!

Agreed...I would have signed Abreu in a hear beat, especially for 5 million. The only downsides are the fact that his defense is lackluster and he is a lefty. Having arguably the best right handed bat in his generation in the middle of that lineup would have done wonders. But yes, give me Abreu for 5 million 100 times out of 100 instead of the Murphy/Tatis platoon in LF.
