Brewers placed RHP Trevor Hoffman on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 27, with a strained right oblique muscle.
Hoffman will miss at least the first four games of the season, with Carlos Villanueva likely serving as the Brewers' temporary closer. This is just the second time in 16 seasons that Hoffman has landed on the DL.

Villanueva worth a pick up?

Depends on how much you need saves. If you have a roster spot open, goferit.

I don't think anyone knows at this point but some have speculated that he might just miss the first 4 games of the season.

Cardinals optioned RHP Chris Perez to Triple-A Memphis.
The Cardinals had eight relievers for seven spots, and Perez's absence to rest a sore shoulder really cost him. This means that Brad Thompson will be on the squad as a middle reliever. Since both Thompson and Zach McClellan are fallbacks for the rotation, Perez could be the first pitcher recalled no matter whether it's a starter or reliever who goes down.

Uh oh, does this mean to drop him? Its not like this kid has a huge track record or any promise of this CL job anytime soon, is he really worth holding on to in 12 or less team leagues?

I'd cut him. He can't win that closer's job in the minors. If Motte struggles, then maybe give him a second look. But, minor league relievers with sore shoulders aren't worth a roster spot.

What's the reasoning behind Hanrahan being "Volatile" rather than "Shaky"?

I just saw what BJ did today... Crap.... I ran to the waiver wire to grab Downs..... What a disappointment... Im so mad at myself! I drafted him without doing any research as my 2nd closer and there were guys like.. Fuentus, cordero, valverde, wood, jenks, capps) bumming around!

I hope he gets his act together during the year.. or downs becomes the permanent closer and does well.... I cant carry both these guys!
