This situation doesn't seem to be clear-cut at all, and it hasn't been discussed in the thread for awhile now. Looks like Garen refuses to name a closer so I guess my take is that both have to be owned heading into the season.
I would grab Ziegler but in general, OAK situation seems wide open. Devine can't stay healthy, Ziegler will probably struggle so whoever is getting the job done will be closing this year.

To put salt in the wounds of Chris Perez owners, he returned today and gave up 2 H, 1 BB, 1 ER, and the L. He may be hurt still but I'm going to guess that he begins the year in AAA or the DL.
Cardinals will start the season without naming a closer.
"Even if we, in our minds, have that person designated, I don't think we're going to publicly say that, and I don't think we're going to tell the individual," pitching coach Dave Duncan said. "Let him establish himself. We'll create the situation for him to pitch, and if he establishes himself then he will (close). If he doesn't, then he won't."

Yeah, no way he starts the season closing games unless Motte implodes in the next week.
Since I own Motte in 80% of my leagues,

oakland has stated many times that devine and ziegler will be co-closers. devine will have the clear edge if he can stay healthy. many forget he broke records for pitchers with at least 40 IP for lowest era and whip. he also has great k's. he has the stuff to be a top 10 closer, or even better, the problem he has faced, however in his career, is the injuries. if he can stay healthy all year tho, and he emerges as the clear-cut closer (like i think he will), watch out.
Is the initial post current???? I'm assuming it is but just checking
At the bottom of the first post it says:
