I think Capps is one of those guys who only pitches well when he comes into a tight situation. The Pirates threw him out there with a four-run lead, so it wasn't a save situation.
I'm not worried about him. He'd been great for a long stretch - one bad outing doesn't mean he's toast...

btw just noticed that in the story apparently Mota replaced Joe Torre hahaha - "Dodgers manager"- nice work CBS!

Troncoso is closing today's game out for the Dodgers with a 3 run lead in the 9th it looks like. Following on gamecast so don't know where Mota is or if there's any explanation yet.

I was surprised that people weren't screaming for JP Howell's head... he got rocked today. I didn't see it, so I can't say how bad it actually was. It wasn't a save situation. It should be noted, though, that he took a game that was within the Rays reach, and put it pretty much out of their reach.
First hiccup for him in a while. I think it will take a few more to lose him the closer's job. Hope the All Star break is plenty of time for him to put it behind him!

Howell hadnt given up a run in a month and a half. I think he's pretty safe unless the Rays trade for a closer or something which I doubt

Any word on Broxton and his foot/toe? Anytime I hear of a toe injury, I think of that dreaded turf toe we hear so much of in football!!

Well, Torre doesn't sound too upbeat. From rotoworld: "It's something that he's going to have to deal with, and we're going to have to deal with, [for what] looks like for the rest of the year."
Between Troncoso and Mota, who's the better speculative pickup?

Yeah, that's who I added in one league. I'm just not sure, with the announcement about Mota being the fill-in.

If I were LA I'd give him another week off after the break. Might as well take advantage of the time off to give him a full 10-14 days rest. Could make a huge amount of difference over the rest of his season.
