I'm thinking about grabbing Aardsma in a trade- how safe would you consider his job? I think he is one of the safer guys in the 2nd tier of closers and really do not think he should be worried about anything.. only has one poor outing that I can think of ( vs. LAA ).

It appears that Mike Gonzalez will work the 8th if there are lefties up that inning. Tonight, there were 2 lefties and a lefty-better switch hitter up in the 8th.
When a manager's got 2 guys pitching as well as Soriano and Gonzalez, it makes sense to use them for match-ups as opposed to the dyed-in-the-wool Closer Role.

Vintage Rodney, walked the bases loaded before getting pulled. Don't look for him to lose his job though.

Not quite Closer info, so I am sorry... but trying to scope out what the concensis is on opportunity. Large/Deep league (no Holds) and wondering who could get the shot first.

As another Gonzales owner, I checked this out. Another matchup thing I think. Two of the batters he faced in the 8th were lefties.

Gonzo has definitely been used in some weird situations this year. I will have to agree that it is match ups. As for the above statement about Grabow and 8th inning opportunity, that makes ZERO sense to me.
