Maddon goes to random no name lefty to face Mauer with 2 out in the 9th. As a Wheeler owner I'm highly annoyed. :-P %-6
Here's the pitch on the way, a swing and a belt! Left field! Way back! BLUE JAYS WIN!

Complete committee right now. I wouldn't want to count on any of them at the moment as a fantasy player, or Rays fan

i dont think committees EVER work. You give to a guy like Wheeler and if he succeeds, you keep giving him the ball in the 9th.

Well, 1990 Reds Nasty Boys (Myers, Dibble, & Charlton) is the only exception I can think of as they all got some saves with Myers getting the majority.

Yeah, because he's not playing in Petco, he has some good internal reliever behind him, he's 41, and he's not the the same pitcher he used to be. I would be surprised if he's not the Brewers closer by year's end due to breakdown and/or lack in performance.

The rumors of Hoffman's demise are greatly exaggerated.

Seriously his stats last year were exactly like every other year just with a small spike in HR/FB, there was no reason to expect him to fail this year.

They brought in a lefty because the next 2 batters were Mauer and Morneau. Wheeler was given the chance to save it as long as he didn't get to the two of them. Once he walked a batter, there's no point in leaving wheeler in to face Mauer, knowing that another lefty was behind him like morneau, especially when you have a lefty warming up. I still think Wheeler wil get a lionshare of the saves for the near future, but as a counterpoint, Maddon had 2 relievers going in the pen throughout the inning. At this point, I'd take wheeler, then Izzy. But Izzy might end up as the best long term pick.

I'd say almost. The Nasty boys weren't fully a committee as Myers got the lionshare regardless of the matchup. IMO the best bullpen ever though. After the 6th inning, game over. ;-D

Over the years Izzy proved it that he is a reliable closer, Wheeler proved it time after time that he isnt.
For now I see a share, with Izzy emerging, unless he implodes.
