Percy flat out sucks. There is no way this guy can remain the closer...unless of course his contract dictates it.

Wheeler isnt much better & Balfour has lost it. Where do they turn?

Uh Oh...The Nats very well might be heading to the ninth with a save opp on the line. Who will blow it tonight? The Nationals Bullpen is currently sitting at 1 WIN and 15 LOSSES. There is a chance to add to the Ls, but probably not the Ws tonight. They are last in the league with 6 saves, and leading the league in blown saves (13).

Hanrahan in...I know its game commentary...but I'm looking at the game situation to determine who the closer is...or if anyone is worth owning.

I hope you are right. Obviously he is the only one with anything approaching closer stuff. And the ones without closer stuff have been at least as bad as him anyway.

What is the situation with BJ Ryan, is he worth owning at all anymore? Yahoo still has 61% ownership... I don't think Downs is giving BJ any reasons to get hopeful.

Lots of comments on the situation if you look at the last few pages of this thread.

Basically there are 2 viewpoints:

1. It is Downs job for now, but IFF Ryan proves to be near his old self, he'll be given his job back. Some of that has to do with his salary, but mostly it is just the theory that "star" players get their jobs back when they are ready for the job back. People in this camp, don't necessarily believe that Ryan will end up proving himself up for the job though, so it is still probably 50/50 at best if you believe what this group believes.

2. The only way Downs losses his job is if he stinks it up. He probably has a shorter leash than say, Rivera or Nathan or whoever, but he is now the closer, and he is going to have blow at least a few saves before he loses HIS job.

(I am in group 1 - if Ryan can close effectively, he will get a chance to do so)

Yep.
Percival is done and finished.

I think they sorta/half guaranteed Isringhausen 7 saves to get to 300. There was talk of that when they signed him.
So maybe they attempt to get him there, and if he really is toast, Howell Time.
