B.J. Ryan should be removed from the closer role on the front page. It's Downs' job to lose now.

i don't think that was his issue, his issue is trying to close out games the "jason motte" way.

The funny thing about Motte is he hasn't given a run in 12 straight appearances.
Obviously the 9th inning is a different animal, but I can't help thinking if he didn't get blown up that first day of the season, he may be doing just fine right now as the Cardinal's closer.
His era now sits at 3.38

Now that he is off the DL, anyone think Casilla emerges as the closer in Oak at some point this year?

Morrow out as closer. From CBS Sports:
Brandon Morrow, SP SEA
News: The Mariners have removed struggling Brandon Morrow from the closer role. Manager Don Wakamatsu says David Aardsma will lead a rotation of relievers who will finish games based on specific situations. Morrow blew saves in each of the last two games of Seattle's last road trip, when the team went 1-7. Wakamatsu says Morrow will pitch middle relief for the time being. He made the announcement before the Mariners hosted the Red Sox on Friday night.
Analysis: On Thursday, Texas' Chris Davis hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning, after Hank Blalock led off with a solo shot against Morrow as the Rangers beat the Mariners 3-2. Blalock hit a two-run double off Morrow in the 11th Wednesday night, leading Texas to a 6-5 victory. Morrow's Fantasy value drops considerably with this move, although he could regain the role at some point this season. Aardsma is now the Mariners reliever to own in Fantasy, although he isn't a highly recommended option either.
Looks like Aardsma heading a CBC. Probably want to stay away except for deeper leagues.

Capps blew another save. Who's the next guy to own in that pen?
Also Percival is warming up in the 6th inning... wtf?

BJ Ryan in in the 9th with a 5 run lead....
Is he going to slide back into the closers role?

If he proves he can pitch very effectively, he will definitely get his job back. He doesn't need to outpitch Downs either. He just needs to be effective.
