Brad Ziegler was taken for chest X-rays Sunday after a bout with the flu and asthma this past week.

A's team doctors want to make sure he doesn't have pneumonia. He's currently taking five medications and predicted that he won't be back to full strength for another 10 days. Look for the A's to place him on the disabled list fairly soon if the X-rays show anything suspicious. Oakland is likely to employ a committee of closers while he's out, but Andrew Bailey got the nod Saturday. May. 11 - 10:42 am et

Nuts. Hopefully they just put him on the dl soon. (Please?)

Hmm... Just checked the rotoworld link, and it doesn't say he'll be sidelined. Here's the whole thing:

ZIEGLER'S AILMENTS: Reliever Brad Ziegler missed a week with the flu, then, after an asthma attack last week, was taken for chest X-rays to make sure he didn't have pneumonia. He's taking five medications and estimates he won't be back at full strength for another 10 days.

(From SF Chronicle.) "...won't be back at full strength..." doesn't mean "sidelined" (as rotoworld put it). I don't know if rotoworld is taking that from another source, or just making a mistake.

Rotoworld is basing it off the potential results of his X-rays. If results are good, he won't be sidelined. If it "shows anything suspicious", then he will

Eh... I don't think that's what they meant. (I mean, if you don't know what the x-ray shows, how do you know it would be 10 days?) Unless there's another source, my best guess is that they just misread his quote about getting back to full health.

Any news on when BJ is to return? And does Downs figure to keep closing once BJ is back?

I heard BJ gave up a walk, hit, and ER in his last AAA inning. No word on how his stuff/control looked. !+)
Here's the pitch on the way, a swing and a belt! Left field! Way back! BLUE JAYS WIN!

I think Jenks will be suspended. For how long? Who's the better pick-up Dotel or Linebrink ?

Dotel has traditionally been the fill-in.
Thornton could get a chance if there are a couple lefties due up.

I still don't understand why Jenks would be suspended for throwing behind a guy.

Because he did it on purpose, and stated such after the game. He said he was doing it to send a message...aka intent to scare and possibly hurt the batter.

Over the next month who stands to see more save opportunities, Madson or Soriano?
