never been a fan of zumaya, yes he's thrown 100 mph heaters before but he's never even been a successful closer. why is everyone assuming he takes the job soon? other than rodney sucking.

Because he's widely available while Rodney is owned. People convince themselves that Zumaya will be a stud closer because of wishful thinking. He's never shown anything other than a hot fastball and an ability to injure himself, while Rodney goes out there and gets the job done.
Same goes for Franklin. He's been a stud all year and people want to annoint Perez for no other reason than the fact that he's on their waiver wires and they want free saves...again, wishful thinking.
This is the second time since coming back from flu that Ziegler comes in a non-save situ. Do you guys think he is just getting some work in? I'm really starting to get worried that he indeed lost his job....

Rodney hasn't been that bad, 4.50 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP. He's far from great, but I don't think he's been bad enough that he is in danger of losing the role.

That may be so but the Twins are a leftie stacked lineup. Sherrill should always be used to shut the gate against them. In the right spots I still say Ray is the man the O's have to use in the 9th.
so beimel comes in with a 4 run lead in the 8th inning. maybe he's not the closer or nationals want to see how he pitches first before giving him save opps?

he pitched yesterday as well..its hard to see him being the closer if he pitches in back-to-back nonsave situations. Could hanrahan have earned the job back??
