This is the info I was looking for.

After 1 unclean save...no.
It may have technically been "unclean" but Tavarez gave up nothing hit hard. The lone hit he gave up went off the glove of Christian Guzman, so he could have in fact had a 1-2-3 inning. Tavarez has been the best guy in the bullpen by far for the Nats this year, and he gave absolutely no reason for him to not get the next save opportunity. To me that makes him the closer. I'm not saying he lasts longer than his next blown save, but he was speculated to get the job, he got the save opp, and he converted with no trouble at all. He is the closer for now IMHO.
If Tavares converts the next couple opps, there'll be no Beimel in the 9th.

What does blowing a save op have to do with anything? Street lost the job without blowing a save op. In fact Corpas has a BS and 2 losses. Street has no BS and only one loss. Street has been outperforming Corpas lately. Corpas was barely outperforming Street before. COL made Street the closer initially to boost his trade value. Everything is lined up at the moment to point toward Street closing. It makes the most sense. The Denver Post is reporting Street has most likely regained the job. Given all that Hurdle will probably keep Corpas in the role anyway because managers usually don't do what makes the most sense.
Now as far as the Nats closing situation goes, none of those guys is a good bet to put up good peripheral stats, so whoever is getting saves expect it to hurt your ERA, WHIP and probably K/9 over time. They'd all be middle relievers or lefty specialists on a team with a competent bullpen. Only go there if you're desperate for saves and aren't in a tough battle in ERA and/or WHIP.

i was watching the nationals game last night, and when tavarez was pitching in the 9th, they showed kensing warming up. i'm guessing that he was just getting lose with his new teammates, but that bullpen doesn't have much going for it. anyone else want to read more into this than is probably necessary? it's not worth it i'm sure, but i'm surprised no one has mentioned it. maybe he'll get a look later this year.
