Where was Lidge? I assume that was just an interesting side effect of the blown save and that Lidge owners shouldn't freak that Madson got the save. I assume the game turned so quickly in the bottom of the 8th with two out when Hanrahan gave up the grand slam that Lidge wasn't ready to go while Madson was warming up for the top of the 9th in what was moments before a non-save situation.
That is just from looking at the game tracker, so someone correct me if they know better info.

I could see getting the next opportunity simply due to the Nationals not having anyone else. I'm sure Acta is seriously thinking about something unorthodox and that might being calling up a starter (Balestar or Detwiler) or converting a starter currently in the rotation (Olsen or Cabrera) to closer. Exactly what the Blue Jays did with Miguel Batista a few years ago or kinda like what the Red Sox did with Papelbon when he was a starter.

They just said the same thing on ESPN too. Thanks for the info.
So much for my theory, thanks for the facts. I have read some speculation that something might be up with Lidge, I guess Madson's value just went up.

I don't see them going away from Hanrahan, at least not now. Mock would have been the leading candidate but he would have lost the game if Hanrahan didn't. He pitched in 9 games. He let more then 1 ER in 2 games. He allowed 1 ER in 2 games(1 a non save situation). And the other 4 appearances he has been pretty good. The 11 Ks don't hurt him either.
I really don't think Mock is much of an option. He was putrid down in AAA, and has been putrid thus far with the big club. Not sure what the Nats will do, but Mock isn't someone to give a look to, IMO.
