Not as far out there as you might think since Havok has him listed on the front page as a potential closer of the future prospect. It was discussed somewhere...here it is.

i cant see them doing it with the money they owe him, but as a Tigers fan i would like to see what he could do as a reliever...although his velocity keeps dropping and i dont think he's crafty enough to get by without it
Manager Clint Hurdle will reassess the closer situation between Corpas and Huston Street on Friday, Tracy Ringolsby of insidetherockies.com reports.
Recommendation: "I have a whole night and another day to figure things out," Hurdle said. "I am going to look at the tape, see the location of pitches, where we were setting up . . . You can do a lot of things when it's the best for the team." Closer Huston Street has gotten off to a bumpy start in Colorado, earning a 13.50 ERA and an OBA of .563 in four appearances. Corpas, on the other hand, has been solid in four of five relief appearances in 2009, and Hurdle has been known to swap closers at the first sign of trouble. Time to put Corpas back on your watchlist. (Rotowire.com)
Looks like corpas might get that job sooner then later.
Should anything be read into the fact that Valverde didn't go out for the 9th (save opp) in the Astros game today? I don't think he's injured so what is up?
I cant find any info as to why Valverde was not in that game? Did he look that bad giving up 1 run on Wednesday? He only threw 16 pitches, 12 for strikes.
rotoworld: Jose Valverde sat out Thursday as LaTroy Hawkins pitched a scoreless ninth for a save against the Pirates. Valverde did pitch yesterday, but it was just 16 pitches and he had the two previous days off. That he went unused today suggests an injury of some sort. The Astros must have known ahead of time that they weren't going to pitch him, as they chose to save Hawkins for the ninth.

hawkins? really?
you're talking about a pretty weak bullpen and hawkins does have experience closing. as much as we rib the guy, he's probably their next best option, and who they'll go to if this really is an injury.
