Asked Sunday (March 2) about the Mariners' closer situation, manager Don Wakamatsu called Miguel Batista, Mark Lowe and Roy Corcoran "the three guys that stand out more than anybody right now." Batista is likely the early favorite to begin the season with ninth-inning duties, if only because the Mariners don't want him in the rotation and he doesn't want to be a middle reliever. David Aardsma and Tyler Walker could also be in the mix for saves.
