Joey has an uh-oh.

Joey Devine is being held out of games for now after coming down with some elbow pain.
Devine believes he caused his own problem with some poor mechanics. It doesn't appear that the A's are looking at this as a major problem. However, if he misses a couple of weeks, it would seem to ensure that Brad Ziegler enters the season as Oakland's closer.

He went on the 60 day DL for elbow problems last year. That's why I wasn't very interested in him in the Cold Stove.

Miguel Batista (?) Rotoworld from a week ago ...

Asked Sunday (March 2) about the Mariners' closer situation, manager Don Wakamatsu called Miguel Batista, Mark Lowe and Roy Corcoran "the three guys that stand out more than anybody right now." Batista is likely the early favorite to begin the season with ninth-inning duties, if only because the Mariners don't want him in the rotation and he doesn't want to be a middle reliever. David Aardsma and Tyler Walker could also be in the mix for saves.

I guess but if I'm a team that doesn't expect to compete, I'd go with the younger guys, pump up their value and trade them off.

Well, his ratios certainly weren't what you want from a closer, but he did save 31 games.
