I was at yesterday's Cardinals game. When Reyes came in to close, Kyle McClellan was warming in case Reyes got into trouble.
It probably doesn't mean anything, but the Cardinals brass has really liked McClellan since he stole a job last season with an incredible spring. I wouldn't go picking him up or anything, but putting him on a watch list may not be a horrid idea.

Good info thanks. Adding to watch list now
Havok, don't you think Wheeler atleast warrants mentioning in your article?

Based on space constrictions, I did not mention him as he'd only be a fill-in at best since he's proven multiple times that he is not a closer. In fact, I think the Rays would turn to JP Howell or even a healthy Izzy over Wheeler. But I'm quite confident that Balfour would be the guy they go to at least until they bring up some of their youngsters. I mentioned McGee and he should be up a little after mid-season.

I don't know why you think McGee will be up after mid-season. He won't start throwing in a game again until June, and that will be high A ball. He had TJ surgery, and said his goal is to prepare for the 2010 season. I don't see him pitching the majors at all this season.

Quit commenting and fix my poll, lol. I'm not saying he'll be the closer this year but I think he will be in the future, well him or Neimann. I do think he gets a cup of coffee if he holds up and everything goes accordingly this year.
