I don't know if my request helped get that poll up but regardless, thanks for the poll Havok.

Anyone think Dotel could steal some saves from Jenks? He is a good K source anyway.

Jenks would have to go down for him to get a chance imo and even then they could go with Linebrink instead.

On a side note, anybody else noticing how well Villaneuva has looked? He's looked really good. Keep in mind Hoffman is still hurt and he's only signed through this year. In fact, every team except the Brewers wanted him to setup and not close but Hoffman signed with the team that gave him that chance. Villaneuva time on the horizon???

I think Francisco Cordero took a step in quieting concerns. He threw 13 pitches(9 strikes) while striking out the side(Sheffield,Reyes & Murphy) & Yahoo player notes stated that he was hitting 95-96. Nice start.

When do you guys think Chris Perez will get the call up? Obviously he has to do some work in AAA first, but let's be realistic, he is the Cards closer of the future, regardless of Motte's one pitch wonder fastball (as we saw in his first game, if someone connects with it: it will travel a mile)..I never had too much faith in Motte anyways considering he's so unexperienced and a converted catcher (still learning ropes of pitching).

Hey D. Who's your favorite to be closer besides Percy.

In regards to the poll I don't trust Zumaya to be healthy enough to get many saves and I see Qualls as one of the most underrated current closers so I wouldn't vote for Pena. I voted for Perez, but it would have to be between him Corpas and Marmol.

If I had my choice, it would be Balfour even with only having one real pitch right now. IMO, from watching the Rays and how Maddon operates, he will use Percy unless he is injured or flat out terrible, next would be Izzy if he is healthy. After that, it could be Balfour, but I could see Wheeler as well. Maddon has this thing with going to Balfour when he really needs to get an out and the heart of the line up coming through. He also loves to use older vets to close out games. He sides more with experiance in the 9th to be the closer, which is why I think it is Percy or Izzy if either is healthy.

Why is Santiago Castilla off the poll? Your home page has a atricle discussing how he is a closer in waiting.
