Trade for MCab? WHIR!

Postby RowdyRed » Thu Feb 12, 2009 7:48 pm

12 team keeper...we keep 12. H2H, 5x5.

I get Miguel Cabrera.

I give Jake Peavy, Scott Kazmir, Chris Davis.

It is a lot to give up but I get the best player, I think.

Here are who my twelve keepers would be if I made the deal

C McCann
1B Morneau
2B Utley
3B Longoria
SS Tulowitzki
OF Sizemore
OF Crawford
OF Kemp
Util Cabrera

SP Gallardo
SP Josh Johnson
RP Marmol

I would not keep Johnson and Marmol and keep those three if I did not make the deal.

What does everyone think? This is really tough....but it would leave almost no holes in my offense and let me focus on pitching in the draft entirely. If I still had Davis, I would feel like I needed to get someone to make sure he doesn't wind up struggling more than most people think (sophomore slump). But it is a ton to give up....

WHIR! Advice?

That's too much to give up. I don't know if other offers have been tried , but I would try Davis, Kazmir, and Josh Johnson for Cabrera . That would still give the other team a good group , and you would keep your ace.

That is alot to give up, especially since you strength is your offense. In a keeper it may be a big move to give up Davis.

You are giving up WAY too much for M-Cab here. Chris Davis, especially playing in Texas, should put up monster numbers...the kid's truly gifted. Not only that, but you're giving up 2 Top 10 pitchers.

Stay put, this is a horrible deal for you.

You already have Longoria and Morneau no need to give up that much for a Utilty spot

MCab is a beast, that's for sure. But Peavy Davis and Kaz is just a little too much and the downtick of your new closers are questionable in value as we speak. I don't think Marmol will get to close if I had to make a guess at this point...

I like your idea of focusing only on pitching in the draft, but try to do it another way.

C McCann
1B Morneau
2B Utley
3B Longoria
SS Tulowitzki
OF Sizemore
OF Crawford
OF Kemp
Util C. Davis
SP Scott kazmir
SP Jake Peavy
SP Yovani Gallardo

I'd keep these 12 and be happy going into the daft, that is a VERY solid team. Instead of Gallardo I might work on acquiring another 2b/OF combo player if you can find one. You also need a closer but you can get those in the draft. What else do you have?

I'd try to upgrade at OF-2. Try offering that guy Carl Crawford, Chris Davis and Scott Kazmir for his MIguel Cabrera and a stud OF. You would be overpaying like in the original trade but you'd be keeping Peavy, giving up the overrated Crawford (who can be easily replaced in draft) getting Miggy like you want, not giving up Davis for too much and at the same time upgrading your OF.
