I would think that a V-Day dance would be part of a catch-and-release program. You just hold in your livewell for 12 hours or so and then put back in the pond. I will guarantee you however nervous or weird you feel going to a V-Day dance alone, the women there are six times more insecure. Just having someone there that will keep them *ahem* company for the night will be a relief.

I am a complete "rear-end" if you know what I mean. And it wasn't easy being married to me. But she was a total "female dog" and still is. My marriage was horrible and that's why I kinda poke fun at other people. However the girl I am with now is great, she sexy, smart, funny, caring and always takes good care of me. Where not married but have a 8 week old together and have been living together for 18 months or so. She's the best thing to come along (except my two kids) So I understand your feelings there.
