Keeper Trade- Possibly Ortiz for Cano

Postby Cabby » Wed Feb 11, 2009 11:28 pm

12 team H2H league
Hitting Categories: Total Bases, RBI's, SB, OBP, R
Pitching Categories: W+QS(Wins + Quality Starts), SV+HLD(Saves plus Holds), ERA, WHIP, K
Start 2 C, 1 1B, 1 2B, 1 SS, 1 3B, 1 CI, 1 MI, 5 OF, 1 Utility
Start
5 SP's, 3 RP's

Here are my for sure Keepers so far:

Major League Keepers:
SS Hanley Ramirez
OF Carlos Lee
SP Cole Hamels
1B Adrian Gonzalez
3B Alex Gordon
2B/SS/OF Alexei Ramirex
2B Robinson Cano
SP Dice K
OF Chris Young(ARI)
RP Lidge
OF Ludwick

Minors: LaPorta, Fowler, Moustakous, Cahill

This is the second year of the league. The league has some new owners this year and one guy just offered me Ortiz for Cano. He is very thin at 2B/MI and needs some help. Cano absolutely killed me last year but I have a feeling he can turn it around, am I wrong? Ortiz is older and his body is likely to break down faster than other players his age, is he worth gambling on? I have HanRam at SS and Alexei Ramirez at 2B, just need to pick up a MI in the draft. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Yeah thats my thinking, Papi should have a few more good years in him and Cano might never reach the potential that most thought he would. Ortiz would fit nicely in my Utility spot.

I'd do it. Ortiz, while aging is still much better than Cano. Plus your MI is solid and you should be able to pick up a servicable replacement in the draft.

bump.. his offer is Ortiz and his 42nd pick for Cano and my 34th pick, what do you guys think? 10 keepers per team so should I still do it?

definitely still do it. with 10 keepers per team it's really not a huge loss to go down 8 picks that late in the draft, and the upgrade from cano to ortiz is certainly worth that downgrade in picks.

Anyone else? The offer is on the table....

The same guy just offered Abreu for LIdge. I have Jenks as well so either way I have two solid closers and was thinking of dropping the other anyways. What do you guys think? That gives me a bit of an older OF(Lee and Abreu) but I have Fowler and LaPorta coming up as well as Chris Young.
