Question On Closers

Postby YankFan51 » Tue Mar 04, 2003 9:00 pm

I have Benetez, Dejean, Looper, Embree, Mantei, and Baez. How many of those guys will be closing come opening day?

Guess you could say we've always been red white and blue

Benitez, Looper, Mantei, and Baez for sure. Embree and Looper are front runners in closer by commitee situations.

Come opening day, Benetiz, Baez and Dejean for sure. Mantei is slated to close unless he gets injured during spring training. Embree and Looper are the frontrunners in their respective comittees. Dejean could lose his job to Luis Vizcaino before the seasons over though.

i think that they could all be closers by opening day but i have heard that looper could easily loose his job to nunez or others, my opinion on embree is he will run away with the closer pos. and get 20-30 saves easy
When my time on earth has passed, I hope the bury me upside down so my critics can kiss my ass.

in my teams I pretty much got exact situation as u. got benitez/julio/stewart/embree/looper/baez. Embree hopefully gets 30+ saves, if looper goes down I'll try to get nunez (spooneyberger is gone) or lance carter from tampa

You have 6 closers? If this is one team, I'd immediately find somebody to trade with in a position you need improvement...probably SP. Closers are very volatile and 6 really aren't recommended...Try 3 good ones. What I'd do is trade them immediately while their perceived value as a closer is high. You can pick up closers from the free agency all season long and they only count towards one category in a 5 x 5 anyway. !+)
