WHY I WANT AROD NOW! WHIR

Postby jackthree » Mon Feb 09, 2009 6:20 pm

I am NOT crazy.

I think A Rod is going to be very angry and hit .298/35/110 this season.

He's getting older, I play in a standard scoring (plus OBP and WHIP) roto keeper league.

HIS VALUE WILL NEVER BE LOWER! This HAS to be the best time to go for him. I figure I wait a month for the whole scandal to die down a bit, let people continue to hate him, and swap a player of lesser value for him.

Thoughts?

Here is my team. I just traded Dice K for Felix Hernandez (it felt as good to make the deal as it does to type it in this post). I keep ten.

Soto
Morneau
Roberts
Reyes
Wright
Alfonso Soriano
Josh Hamilton
Jay Bruce
Cole Hamels
Felix Hernandez
Shane Victorino
Yovani Gallardo

I am considering offering Soriano and Victorino for A-Rod. I probably won't keep Vic anyway at this point but I am still debating.

he's going to be very angry and hit less than his career averages of .306/44/127?

yeah this is fantasy, not real life. If i had him on my team i'd be perfectly happy keeping him.

and he'll probably put up the numbers you predict when hes around 38 or so...not when hes averaging .302 and 35 homers

That's a ridiculous projection, no offense.

He's surrounded by offensive talent and will probably have one of his most consistent and straight across the board best statistical years.

.310-.315, 43-48 HR's, 125-135 RBI's, 120-125 Runs

Dude, you already have Wright, I think you're solid at 3B. If I had A-Rod and was trading with you Id make you give me Wright plus another minor piece. And that doesn't make much sense for you.

Honestly, I don't know what is crazier that projection or the fact that you would offer Soriano and Victorino for A-Rod.

Judging by your roster you are in a league with your parents and your sister, so maybe they would take the offer but in reality its just silly. I mean in what league, even a keeper, does someone have Reyes,Wright, Soriano, Hamilton, Cole Hamels, Justin Morneau, Brian Roberts.....

I agree with many of the previous posters... one on the projections and two on the fact that soriano and victorino shouldn't be nearly enough.

Still, I think you have the right idea. It seems to me that A-rod might come at a bit of a discount. I'm not sure that you have room for him with Wright already on the roster, but you could perhaps offer Wright for A-Rod and something very good. I'm thinking something like a strong 3-4 rounder. Post the other guys roster and maybe we can all help a little more.
