who to target at 12th pick

Postby cnasty » Mon Feb 09, 2009 5:56 pm

I have 12th pick in a brand new keeper league. We usually restart our league every 3 years points based cbs style h2h league we keep 7 guys, i have 12th pick who should i target? Is santana/lincecum too early especially for a pitcher in this type of league. Also i was thinking longoria or kinsler or texiera obviously i get two guys here so give me a decent list of guys that u rank from 9-15 maybe someone could fall.

Assumptions:
1. Hanley Ramirez
2-4. Albert Pujols, David Wright, Alex Rodriguez
5-9. Jose Reyes, Ryan Braun, Miguel Cabrera, Grady Sizemore

The picks aren't so clear after that. I would probably go:
10. Josh Hamilton
11. Mark Teixiera
12. Evan Longoria
13. Ryan Howard
14. Prince Fielder
15. Tim Lincecum
16. Ian Kinsler
17. Jimmy Rollins
18. Matt Holliday

I agree with skmo2345 with the top 9 so if any of them fall to you grab them.

At the turn I would look for two IF's. Hamilton is a solid choice here or you could reach with Upton and Holliday is a option but I would stay still go infield here.

1B-Teixeria & Howard
3B-Longoria
SS-Rollins
2B-Utley & Kinsler

Not that I think Teixeria is the best player if he is available I would take him (otherwise take Howard) with one of my picks to lock up those stats.

If this was a long term keeper not just a 3 year keeper I would go Longoria. Also I assume that you can take Teixeria or Howard with one of your picks if not I would take Longoria and not take 2 MI's.

I would rank the others Rollins, Kinsler, Utley.

Brand new picks every 3 years? Nice. :-)

You gotta go with pure power with the first pick. I'd go Hamilton first then Howard. But with your second pick I'd be looking for a top flight IF. Utley would be first choice unless you get Howard and don't want 2 Phils that early on. (why not?) Then there's Phillips or Kinsler who will get you steals as well as production.
